The Sankofa Experience
The Sankofa Experience: Ghana 2026 is more than a tour—it’s a return, a reckoning, a reconnection.
We’re preparing something unforgettable..
JULY 23rd - AUG 3rd
🇬🇭GHANA 2026🇬🇭
STAND BENEATH THE BLACK STAR AND FEEL IT!
History
Some stories are too painful to forget — and too powerful not to reclaim.
With Sankofa Escapes, we return to the places where our ancestors’ voices were silenced, and we choose to listen. We walk through the shadows of our past not to relive the pain, but to honor it, to understand it, and to rise from it.
At Cape Coast Castle, we descend into cold stone dungeons, where the air still carries the weight of captivity. We stand before the Door of No Return, the last threshold our ancestors crossed before being cast into the unknown. But this time, we return through that door with our heads high — not as the stolen, but as the sons and daughters of survival.
This time, we return with purpose.
At Independence Square, beneath the proud Black Star Monument, we remember the moment Ghana declared to the world that we are not broken — we are free. It is a place of power, of pride, and of proof that our story did not end at the castle gates. It continued — in defiance, in dignity, in victory.
And at the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park, the final resting place of Ghana’s first President, we pay tribute to a man who dared to dream of a united Africa. Surrounded by peace, legacy, and flame, we don’t just mourn his passing — we carry his mission forward, step by step.
These are not just stops on a tour.
They are sacred moments.
They are where grief meets grace, and memory becomes movement.
This is where we remember. This is how we return.
This is Sankofa.
Culture
Feel the heartbeat of Ghana through its living traditions.
Culture on the Sankofa Journey isn’t something you observe from a distance, it’s something you step into, something you feel in your chest, under your feet, and deep within your spirit.
Explore Jamestown — Where the Streets Speak
Step into Jamestown, one of Accra’s oldest and most historic districts, where crumbling colonial buildings, vibrant murals, and a lively fishing community tell stories of resistance, resilience, and rhythm. Walk its alleyways, meet local artisans, and stand beneath the iconic Jamestown Lighthouse — a symbol of endurance.
Here, history isn’t behind glass. It’s alive, and it meets you face to face.
Weave Identity Through Kente
Visit a traditional weaving village and witness how Kente cloth — once worn only by kings and queens — is crafted with skill and symbolism. Learn the meanings behind the colors and patterns, and even try your hand at weaving a strip yourself.
This isn’t just fabric. It’s a living expression of heritage, pride, and purpose.
Move to the Rhythm of Your Roots
Take part in an immersive Ghanaian drumming and dance workshop, led by master instructors who pass down movements and rhythms that tell ancestral stories. These are not just sounds and steps — they are a language of memory, a way of reconnecting to something deeper.
When the drums speak, the soul remembers.
Nature and Adventure
Let the land speak. Let your spirit respond.
The Sankofa journey isn’t only about remembering — it’s about returning.
And sometimes, the return isn’t to a person or a monument.
It’s to the earth itself.
The sound of water. The scent of trees. The hush of wind over hills.
These curated outdoor experiences are designed to reconnect you with stillness, movement, and meaning — through landscapes that have long held stories, healing, and ancestral rhythm.
Breathe Deep at Aburi Gardens
Up in the hills above Accra, a cool breeze moves gently through towering palms and centuries-old silk-cotton trees. This is a space to slow down. To walk with intention. To reflect among healing plants and colonial-era greenhouses.
This is not just a garden. It’s a sanctuary for your soul.
Stand in the Presence of Boti Falls
In the heart of the Eastern Region, twin waterfalls cascade side by side — one male, one female — flowing in harmony through the forest. The journey to get there includes a winding path, a sacred cave, and 250 stone steps that lead you into the roar of water and the embrace of mist.
This is where movement becomes memory, and water becomes wisdom.
Drift Across Lake Volta
Glide across the calm waters of Lake Volta, the largest man-made lake in the world. As the boat moves quietly past fishing villages and green hills, the Adomi Bridge rises ahead — a bold steel arch built in 1957, the year of Ghana’s independence.
Spanning the Volta River, it became the first of its kind. A symbol of freedom, unity, and forward movement.
This is more than a cruise. It’s a crossing between past and present and a reflection on how far we’ve come.
Arrive at Bojo Beach
A short canoe ride carries you across a quiet lagoon to a hidden stretch of sand where the Atlantic meets silence. There are no crowds here. Just breeze, ocean, sun, and time.
Whether you’re sipping fresh coconut, walking the shore, or sinking into stillness, this is where ease and joy meet without effort.
This isn’t just a beach. It’s a soft landing for your spirit.
Entertainment & Relaxation
Joy in Motion: Entertainment & Relaxation with Sankofa Escapes
Sankofa is not only about what we remember — it’s about how we reclaim joy, presence, and ease.
After days of movement, meaning, and memory, we arrive at the part of the journey where we simply let go. We slow down. We gather. We laugh. We sway to the rhythm of now.
This is where the journey softens — where the past makes room for pleasure, and your return is not just honored but celebrated.
BBQ at the Ada Mansion + Private Boat Ride
Along the peaceful edges of the river in Ada, the Sankofa journey unfolds into warmth.
Your evening begins with a private boat ride, weaving through gentle waters under a golden sky. As you drift past palms and estuary views, your mind quiets and your heart opens. On return, you’re welcomed at our private Sankofa villa — the grill hot, the music low, and the fire dancing.
Here, we gather for a sunset barbecue unlike any other.
Plates are filled with watchɛ, grilled fish, suya, kelewele, and fresh fruit. The breeze carries the scent of spice and charcoal. The stars arrive slowly, and conversation flows easily. This is the night we laugh from the belly, toast to the present, and let joy linger in the air.
Accra by Night: Celebration, Ghana Style
When the sun sets over the city, a new energy rises. As the sun sets, Ghana’s capital city transforms into a different kind of vibrant. Accra by night is an electric fusion of lights, music, and movement. From rooftop lounges with sweeping views to hidden gems pulsing with Afrobeats, this city knows how to turn up.
We’ll explore the iconic Osu Oxford Street, the beating heart of Accra’s nightlife, where the rhythm never stops and the energy is unmatched. Watch street performers, shop from vibrant local vendors, and catch the buzz of the city that never truly sleeps.
Whether it’s sipping chilled cocktails under the stars, dancing to live highlife music, or grabbing late-night suya from a street-side grill, you’ll see why Ghana is the capital of enjoyment.
Every stop on this journey will keep your spirit lifted — because with Sankofa Escapes, every moment is an
Dress up. Let the night carry you. And let yourself be fully, unapologetically present.
